I hate Twitter.
I hate the entire idea of it, which, as far as I can tell, is not really an idea at all. In fact, Im not sure that its possible to actually hate something that so barely even manages to be anything in the first place.
I dunno. Maybe its just me. In fact, its almost certainly just me, because everyone else in the world seems to think its awesome...whatever IT is.
But anyway, my eccentric hatred for it aside, I decided to get a twitter account anyway and use it for an experiment. I doubt, seriously, that Im the first person to do anything like this, but I really hate the whole thing so much that I cant be bothered to investigate and see if anyone else is doing it too. ::laughs::
So, here's what Im doing. I'm going to write a story, maybe even a book, on Twitter. I'm forcing myself to use the medium in a particular way. Each entry must do its best to continue the previous entry, but also to be a complete thought in its own right. I am only going to post a single entry a day. And of course, the entries are limited to the 140 character maximum which includes punctuation and spaces. Also, I am going to let the story, like the Fox Diary was in the beginning, just go where it will. It is already taking shape and beginning to have a life of its own, but it started from a simple personal vision I have had for several years: a single mental image that constitutes, for me, what "peace" looks like, or what that word conjures in my mind. Since I cant draw it or paint it, I decided to write about it, and having briefly and very simply described it, I let it be the starting point for whatever comes next.
Its been fun, and very easy, and the enforced simplicity and discipline of it will likely be good for my writing in general.
